About Employee Learning Week

Showcase the Contribution of Workplace Learning by Celebrating Employee Learning Week – December 8 – 12, 2008

To increase awareness about the strategic value of learning in organizations, ASTD has declared December 8 – 12, 2008 as “Employee Learning Week.” This is an opportunity for organizations to showcase the important link between developing employees’ skills and achieving organizational results.

ASTD research shows that organizations continue to invest in growing the knowledge and skills of their workforce.

Increasingly, business leaders realize that the most important asset in our knowledge economy is talent, and a skilled workforce is the key to realizing results. We encourage all organizations to demonstrate their commitment to learning by recognizing Employee Learning Week.

Training is more important now than ever before. The growing skills gap and the increased need to compete in today’s economy require organizations to develop a knowledgeable and highly skilled workforce. It’s never too early or too late to begin making the changes necessary, within any organization, that will ensure the success of our businesses, our workforce. What are some of the changes being made out there? How successful have they been?
